Kraljevi Kvota - Handball World Championship Group Stage

The group stage of the championship, in which there were no surprises, is over. After the first part of the competition, in which we had eight groups with four teams each, in which the first three from the group made it through, the second phase is on the way, in which we have four groups with six teams each. In these new groups, all the national teams transferred the points won from the first round, but without a result against the weakest team in the group. From this second stage, the placement in the fourth final will be achieved by the two first-placed national teams from the groups.
Let's go back to the first part of the competition. In group A, the first place was taken by Germany, which achieved a maximum of six points from three matches, and will carry over to the second part a total of four points. Further from group A, Switzerland and the Czech Republic passed, with one point each.
One of the hosts, Denmark, was the first in group B, and also achieved three victories from three matches, and carries over four points to the next round. Along with Denmark, Italy also passed, which will transfer two points, and Tunisia, which will not transfer a single point.
In Group C, as expected, France finished in first place in the group with all three wins, so they will carry four points to the next stage. Austria was second and transfers two points, while Qatar also goes further, but does not transfer a single point.
In group D it was more interesting and more uncertain. Hungary finished first, taking three points further, out of a total of five they won. Then the Netherlands will transfer 2 points from the four won to the second place from the group, and North Macedonia will transfer one point from the three won.
In group E we saw perhaps the biggest surprise. The great Portuguese finished in first place, who were maxed out and transferred four points, followed by Brazil, who will transfer two points, and Norway, which is also one of the favorites in this championship, finished the competition in third place in the group, and will not not carry over a single point to the next stage.
In Group F, Sweden and Spain are tied with five points each, but Sweden finished first due to a better goal difference. Both national teams carry over three points to the next stage. Chile also secured passage from this group, but they will not transfer a single point.
With yesterday's victory over Slovenia in the direct fight for the first place in Group G, Iceland achieved their third triumph, registered their sixth point, and will transfer four. The Slovenians, as runners-up, transfer two points, while the Cape Verde Islands, which do not transfer a single point, will go further.
In group H, Egypt was better than Croatia and thus achieved all three victories, so they carry four points to the next round. Croats will transfer two points as the runners-up, and Argentina will go further, but without points.
Now in the next phase in group 1 we will see Denmark, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Czech Republic and Tunisia. The Danes and Germans are in the best position with four points each. Everyone will play three games, after which we will know which two best go to the quarterfinals.
In group 2 players are France, Hungary, Netherlands, Austria, North Macedonia and Qatar. Here the situation is a bit more interesting. The French have four points, Hungary three, and the Netherlands and Austria two each. Given that uncertain matches await us, the final outcome of the group will be in the last round.
In Group 3, Portugal is in the best position, with four points. Along with them, there are also Sweden, Spain, Brazil, Norway and Chile. There will be many interesting matches in this group, and Norway, as one of the favorites, will have a very difficult, but not impossible task to advance if they achieve all three triumphs.
And finally, in group four, Egypt and Iceland have four points each, and there are also Croatia, Slovenia, Cape Verde and Argentina.
The second phase begins with today's matches, and we have six matches on the program in which Austria-North Macedonia, Switzerland-Tunisia, Czech Republic-Italy, Qatar-Netherlands, Denmark-Germany and Hungary-France meet.
The competition is not over even for the teams that were last in their groups. From those 8 national teams, two new groups with four teams each were formed. In Group 1 we will see Poland, Algeria, Kuwait and Guinea, and in Group 2 Cuba, Bahrain, Japan and the USA will compete. They practically start from the beginning, because everyone starts without points, and everyone will play three matches. The two first-placed national teams play in the playoffs for the 25th place in the championship. Then the two second-placed teams will play a match for 27th place, the two third-placed teams will play a duel for 29th place, and the teams that are last in the groups will play a duel for 31st place in the championship.
